What are pure cotton socks?

Update:12 May 2022

Pure cotton socks, that is, 100% cotton content, there is no pure cotton in socks, and the cotton content is 60%~85%. Because socks are elastic, and pure cotton has poor elasticity, it is impossible to use pure cotton as socks.
So we can only say that it is cotton socks, not pure cotton socks.
Pure cotton fabric: cotton as raw material, through the loom, the warp and weft yarns are interwoven vertically and horizontally. Now, according to the actual cotton source, it is divided into virgin cotton fabric and recycled cotton fabric.
The following two ways to distinguish whether it is pure cotton socks:
Pinch: There are obvious folds after pinching the pure cotton socks. Fold the fabric in half and scrape it with your fingernails. After unfolding, there is a clear crease line, while the chemical fiber fabric has no folds after pinching.
Burning: The cotton fiber does not melt or shrink when it is close to the flame. It burns immediately when it touches the fire. When it burns, it smells of burning paper.
Usually we like to choose pure cotton socks, but is pure cotton 100% cotton? The answer from hosiery experts is no. If the composition of a pair of socks is 100% cotton, then the socks are cotton. Usually socks with a cotton content of more than 75% can be called cotton socks. Generally, socks with a cotton content of 85% are very high-end cotton socks.
The disadvantages of pure cotton fabrics are that they are not resistant to sunlight, easy to yellow, poor elasticity, easy to wrinkle, mildew and deterioration, and wear resistance. Therefore, cotton socks also need to add some functional fibers to maintain the elasticity, fastness and comfort of the socks. Spandex, nylon, acrylic, polyester, etc. are all very common functional fibers. Socks that do not contain these functional fibers are not good socks.
