Do you value the cycling socks in the riding gear?

Update:21 May 2020

In our bicycle trip, the importance of the feet is needless to say, and the socks that directly contact the feet are more particular. Not all socks are suitable for long-distance riding. If you want to protect your feet during a long journey and suffer less from bumps, you should choose a special riding sock instead of the usual cotton socks or ordinary sports socks.

Why wear cycling socks?

1. Good moisture absorption and breathability for cycling socks. When traveling by bicycle for a long time every day, the amount of exercise will be very large, which will result in the accumulation of sweat in the feet. If the socks have a poor sweating function, soak your feet in the sweat and it is easy to get athlete's foot.

2. The forefoot part of the cycling socks is relatively thick. If you ride for a long time, your feet will feel sore and painful. Good cycling socks are thicker in the forefoot area, which can help reduce this feeling and improve riding efficiency.

3. cycling socks are usually made of quick-drying materials, easy to wash and dry quickly.

Usually, when we choose cycling socks, we will pay attention to its material. The yarns used in ordinary cycling socks are generally polyester and nylon. CooImax fabric in polyester has excellent moisture absorption and perspiration performance, which can keep the feet dry during riding. Nylon also has outstanding performance in terms of wear resistance and flexibility.

Of course, in order to increase the function of socks, different manufacturers will add yarns of different materials. For example, in winter, cycling socks with increased cotton yarns will be introduced.

Can cotton sports socks adapt to cycling travel

When riding a bicycle, if you wear pure cotton sports socks, its thermal insulation performance is high, and it is often used in winter cycling products, and it is not recommended for summer cycling.

Therefore, cycling socks are not as thick as possible. The key to evaluating the quality of a pair of cycling socks is not the thickness, but the comfort during riding. The comfort of a pair of cycling socks is usually reflected in: keeping the feet dry, not slipping, high degree of sticking feet, and strong wrapping.

Can outdoor hiking socks replace cycling socks?

Strictly speaking, mountaineering socks are not a substitute for cycling socks. Outdoor socks have some characteristics of cycling socks in terms of performance and materials, such as quick-drying and perspiration, but it is not a kind of cycling socks after all, so it does not have many of the unique characteristics of cycling socks.

For example, the bottom part of the cycling socks is more non-slip and more wear-resistant, while the professional pressure cycling socks have the effect of gradient pressure, which can promote blood circulation of the feet, prevent muscle cramps, and improve the riding efficiency of the rider.

Secondly, when riding in the cold season, it is recommended to choose wool socks. It adds warmth to the original performance of the cycling socks and can maintain the temperature of the feet during riding.

At the same time, what are the precautions for cleaning and maintenance of socks after riding:

First, we can't use bleach; we can't use a dryer to bake socks; we can't use an iron to iron; we don't use dry cleaning. When washing cycling socks, the normal temperature of the washing water should be kept at about 30 ℃. Secondly, the wool cycling socks used in winter should be turned over when washing the inner wool, and it is best to use a laundry bag to clean. The wool cycling socks cannot be washed with hot water.

Furthermore, when wearing cycling socks, keep away from sharp objects to avoid damage to the socks. In the wild environment, pay attention to objects that are easy to scratch the socks, such as branches and pricks.
